The Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty made a comeback after the drop on 4th June, surging over 3 percent on Wednesday.
This comes as the NDA secured a comfortable majority on June 4 late at night with BJP alone securing 240 seats. The BJP announced its victory with the NDA allies showing their complete support to the BJP’s Modi-led government. PM Modi is expected to be sworn in on June 8, after the allies gave in writing today, their support for the NDA alliance.
The Indian shares increase on Wednesday marked their best one-day gain in over three years after a 4 year low in the previous session.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 2,303.19 points or 3.20 percent, to close at 74,382.24 with people buying Bank and steel stocks. The four stocks which witnessed the highest increase in share price are IndusInd Bank (₹107.95 or 7.75 percent), Tata Steel (₹10.40 or 6.55 percent), M&M (₹167.20 or 6.49 percent) and Bajaj Finance (₹329.10 or 5.06 percent).
The NSE Nifty 50 increased by 3.36 percent or 735.85, to 22.620.35 with the highest trading in Banking/Finance, Technology, Oil & Gas, Automotive and Metals & Mining. This Major comeback comes after the market crashed to a 4-year low on June 4 with Nifty crashing by 3000 points and Sensex by 6000 points. This came as the Lok Sabha Election counting took place and the results were not similar to the Exit Polls, with BJP behind the majority mark.
