Two doctors were recently arrested from Pune’s Sassoon General Hospital in the Porsche Crash case involving Vedant Agrawal, son of Vishal Agrawal.
The arrests have been made on charges of manipulation of blood samples, the police informed.
The two doctors arrested included the head of the forensic department of the hospital who is identified as Dr Ajay Taware and Shrihari Harnor.
“They have been arrested for alleged manipulation of blood samples and destruction of evidence in the case,” a senior police official said.
“Sections 120 (B), 467 Forgery and 201, 213, 214 Destruction of evidence have been added in this matter. During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that he had taken the sample of juvenile accused but had thrown it in the dustbin and replaced it with the sample of another person and sent it to the forensics. He did this on the instructions of Dr. Ajay Taware, who is the HOD of Forensic Medicine of Sassoon Hospital. We will produce them in court and request for police custody remand…”, said Pune commissioner Amitesh Kumar
The Pune Porsche Case
The case became viral when the court ordered the juvenile convict to write a 300-word essay spend 15 days with the traffic police and submit a report to the court. The internet broke out considering the judgement silly and not effective enough. This was followed by bail for the convict, Vedant Agrawal.
He was punished for driving the Porsche car with a speed higher than 300 km/hr and killing 2 people in their mid-20s. Vedant Agrawal was registered for reckless driving in an unregistered Porsche car under the influence of alcohol.
Vedant Agarwal’s alcohol test has come negative. But it is clearly visible in the video that he is partying with his friends

Family’s lies and manipulation
The lawyer claimed in the court that the driver was the one driving the car and Vedant was innocent. Regarding this argument, Surendra Agrawal, grandfather of the boy has been arrested for threatening the driver and forcing him to give statements to the police that he was driving the car.
During the court hearing, police alleged that Surendra Agrawal abducted his driver Gangaram and confined him at a bungalow. “There Surendra Agarwal pressurised Gangaram to take the blame for the car accident. We have recovered some CCTV footage too. We demand that he be sent to seven days custody remand,” police said.
“After the accident, the driver gave a statement at the Yerawada police station that he was at the wheel….But it was revealed that the teen was driving the car,” police commissioner Amitesh Kumar told reporters last week.
This manipulation extends to the blood reports in which 2 doctors are arrested for manipulating blood samples. A second blood report revealed alcohol in the minor’s system, and DNA tests confirmed the samples were from two different individuals, leading investigators to suspect the doctors at the government hospital.
This false claim by Agrawal’s lawyer was also busted by footage from the Pune pub where he could be seen consuming alcohol.

“Not following protocol”, 2 cops suspended
Police Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari were suspended for not following the protocol of informing their superiors – the deputy commissioner of police on night duty in this instance – about the case.
NDTV had reported how, in addition to probing the alleged preferential treatment given to the boy – the son of a prominent Pune realtor – his medical test had been delayed. Another lapse on the part of the cops, which had been pointed out by sources, was that the cops did not inform the central police control room, disregarding the laid-down procedure.
