India celebrates its 75th Republic Day today. Kartavya Path in New Delhi serves as the main center of the festivities, with stunning parades comprising the Indian army, navy, air force, police, and paramilitary forces. This year’s parade will start at 10:30 a.m. and last 90 minutes. It will take place on Kartavya Path, formerly known as Rajpath. It will start from Vijay Chowk and proceed five km to the National Stadium. This year’s Chief Guest is French President Emmanuel Macron. The themes are ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat: Loktantra ki Matruka’, which represent the country’s goals and position as a promoter of democracy.
Nari Shakti
For the first time, the march will be led by over 100 female musicians performing Indian musical instruments. The procession would begin with music from Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, and other female performers. It will also be the first appearance of an all-female tri-service group walking along the Kartavya Path. Women pilots will also captivate the crowd during the fly-past, portraying “Nari Shakti” (women strength). The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) contingents are going to be all-female. Lt Cdr Disha Amrith (29), a navy air operations officer, will command a naval contingent of 144 sailors. Lt Amrith has always aspired to head the naval contingent since she enlisted as an NCC cadet. Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy, a Mi-17 pilot, will serve as the contingent commander for the Indian Air Force (IAF), with the tableau subject “Indian Air Force: Power Beyond Boundaries”. In addition to it, Lieutenant Dimple Bhati of the Corps of Signals will be part of the Indian Army’s Daredevils motorbike team at the R-Day parade. Lieutenant Chetana Sharma is set to manage the ‘Made in India’ Akash surface-to-air missile system.
India’s unique Diversity
States and Union Territories of India showcased culture diversity on Tableaux. The show started with Andhra showcasing Prabhala Theertham (a festival of peasantry during Makar Sankhranti.) Haryana showed international Gita Mahotsav. Uttarakhand’s tableau has been prepared on the theme of Manaskhand. Tripura chose sustainable livelihood through tourism and organic farming in Tripura as theme with active participation of women. Gujarat prepared to present on clean-green energy effective. Jharkhand showed Baba Baidyanath Dham with Birsa Munda at the Hore. Uttar Pradesh’s tableau is prepared on Ayodhya Deepotsav. Kerala’s theme for the day was Naree Shakhti. West Bengal’s Durga Pooja in Kolkata is the theme which inscribed intangible cultural heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Maharashtra presented on the theme Sade tin shakthipithe and Nari Shakthi. Ladakh, a Union Territory also participated in the parade with Tourism and composite culture of Ladakh as its theme. Dadar Nager Haveli and Daman and Diu another union territory showcased the conservation of tribal culture and heritage. Jammu and Kashmir (Paradise on Earth) presented Naya Jammu and Kashmir. However, Odisha’s tableau is not a part of the Republic Day parade at New Delhi for the third year in a row.
Defense Research and Development Organization
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will be prominently displayed during the parade, highlighting various key systems and technology. The DRDO tableau will focus on the topic ‘Women Power in National Defense: Safeguarding the Nation across Land, Air, Sea, Cyber, and Space Domains’.
Chandrayaan-3
According to Asian News International (ANI), the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) tableau will mark the historic achievement of its spacecraft Chandrayaan-3’s successful lunar landing on August 23 last year.
India’s 75th Republic Day Parade demonstrates the country’s growth, diversity, and dedication to equality.
