The voting for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is scheduled for today (25th May). The phase includes six states and 2 union territories.
Polling is scheduled in 58 PCs across 8 States/UTs. Haryana and NCT of Delhi will head to polls in this phase. Over 11.13 crore voters include 5.84 crore Males; 5.29 crore Females and 5120 Third gender electors.
In the Phase, polling will take place in 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, all 10 seats in Haryana, 7 seats in Delhi, 8 seats each in Bihar and West Bengal, six seats in Odisha, four seats in Jharkhand, and one seat in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, voting is being conducted for 42 assembly constituencies in Odisha simultaneously.
Election phase 6 Voter Turnout
The approximate voter turnout as of 11 am stands at 25.76 percent. The highest turnout till now was reported in West Bengal at 36.88 percent, followed by Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh at 27.80 percent and 27.06 percent respectively. NCT of Delhi and Odisha recorded the lowest turnout of 21.69 percent and 21.30 percent respectively.
Key Constituencies & candidates
Northeast Delhi: the BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari is contesting from this seat against the Congress Candidate Kanhaiya Kumar. Tiwari has been contesting for the past 10 years now. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Tiwari defeated former Delhi chief minister and then Congress candidate, Sheila Dikshit. Tiwari is the only sitting MP that the BJP has retained in Delhi this election season.
Anantnag-Rajouri (Jammu & Kashmir): this seat is being contested by Mehbooba Mufti (JKPDP) against Miian Altaf Ahmed Larvi. She was among the opposition leaders who were on house arrest during the 370 abrogation, and this is the first time she is contesting after the abrogation.
New Delhi: BJP candidate Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late Sushma Swaraj is contesting in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Swaraj is against Somnath Bharti from the Aam Aadmi Party.

Kurukshetra: The chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and BJP candidate Naveen Jindal is contesting against AAP candidate Sushil Gupta. Entering the poll fray after a decade, Jindal, is eyeing his third win from Kurukshetra. Jindal quit Congress and joined the BJP in March. While in Congress, he represented Kurukshetra between 2004-2014.
Sultanpur: Maneka Gandhi is contesting her second election from this constituency. In 2019, she defeated SP-BSP candidate Chandrabhadra Singh Sonu and now she is against SP candidate Rambhaul Nishad and BSP’s Udraj Verma.
Karnal: Manohar Lal Khattar, who was replaced as Haryana CM, is contesting the Lok Sabha election after resigning from the Karnal assembly seat. Khattar replaced the sitting BJP MP Sanjay Bhatia, who defeated Congress’ Kuldeep Sharma by 6,56,142 votes in 2019.- Khattar (70) is up against Haryana Youth Congress chief Divyanshu Budhiraja (30).
Sambit Patra (Puri): BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra has been handed a ticket from this constituency for the second time. In 2019, he lost the seat to Biju Janata Dal’s Pinaki Misra. The BJP has never won Puri.
