Danish Ali has aggressively joined the opposition in opposing the BJP, despite the fact that the Mayawati-led BSP has kept its distance from the INDIA group.
Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali, who continues to be suspended by the BSP, declared on Sunday that he will attend Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, claiming he would be failing in his duty as a politician if he did not participate in the “biggest drive for unity and justice.”
Ali was suspended by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) last month due to “anti-party” conduct. Ali had aggressively joined the opposition in opposing the BJP and its policies, despite the fact that the Mayawati-led BSP had kept a distance from both the ruling coalition and the opposition group INDIA.
After arriving in Imphal, Ali stated on X that he had decided to participate in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
What Danish Ali said?
“This is a really critical occasion for me. I’ve come here after much soul searching. I had two choices: accept the current quo and ignore the exploitation of Dalits, backwards, tribals, minorities, and other disadvantaged and impoverished groups, or begin an all-out campaign against this climate of fear, hatred, exploitation, and the country’s widening split,” he said.
“My conscience urged me to choose the second alternative. Taking this decision came naturally to me because I was on the receiving end of a similar attack in Parliament, where swear words were used by a member of the ruling party against me and my religion,” the BSP leader added, referring to the objectionable remarks made by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on the floor of Parliament.
Explaining his decision to join the yatra, he stated, “I have realised that the attack on me was part of a larger plan to create an atmosphere of fear and hate in the country.”
What happened?
Danish Ali was suspended last month by the BSP, which is run by former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, following accusations of his cosying up to Congress politicians. Former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi paid Ali a visit at his official house in Delhi to express his support following Bidhuri’s disparaging remarks about the BSP legislator.
Danish Ali has kept his prospective membership into the Congress under wraps, claiming that regardless of the ban, he will continue to oppose the BJP.
“I will always be thankful to BSP president Mayawati for electing me to the Lok Sabha, and I have always worked to strengthen the BSP. Yes, I have spoken out against the looting of the country’s riches by a few industrialists, and I will continue to do so,” he stated.
Ajay Rai, the Congress head in Uttar Pradesh, called the move “unwarranted” and promised that his party “will do everything to strengthen Ali and all that he stands for.”
What next?
According to Ali, Rahul Gandhi’s yatra is intended to bring justice to the disadvantaged and downtrodden parts of society.
“This yatra is a call to action against divisive forces.” This yatra is an effort to bring our country’s people together in the face of fear, hatred, exploitation, and division. I’ve chosen to join him on this yatra because I believe I would be failing in my duty as a politician and social worker if I didn’t participate in the largest movement for unity and justice,” the Lok Sabha MP stated.
He wished the yatra success as well as the country’s future prosperity. Ali was on stage as the march started. The yatra will cover 6,713 kilometres, largely on buses. It will visit 100 Lok Sabha seats and 110 districts in 67 days, concluding in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
