Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), a Tata Motors subsidiary, today introduced its first pure EV, the Punch.ev. acti.ev is the company’s first product built on its recently launched superior Pure EV architecture.
The Punch EV, priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.49 lakh at pan-India showrooms, competes with the MG Comet (Rs 7.98 lakh-Rs 9.98 lakh), Citroen eC3 (Rs 11.5 lakh-Rs 12.68 lakh), and Tata’s own Tiago EV (Rs 8.69 lakh).The company came up with the goal of reaching 1 lakh units sold yearly by next year.

Insight into TATA Punch.ev
The Punch.ev comes with two battery pack options: 25 kWh, which has a MIDC range of 315 km, and 35 kWh, which has a MIDC range of 421 km. These battery pack options are supplemented by two e-Drive options: a 60kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor with 114 Nm of torque and a 90kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor with 190 Nm of torque, resulting in a 9.5-second sprint time to 100 km/h and an electronically limited top speed of 140 km/h.
The Punch.ev’s battery pack and motor are IP67 certified for dust and water protection, and it comes with an 8-year or 1,60,000-kilometer guarantee (whichever comes first), providing total peace of mind. The Punch.ev Long Range (LR) also comes with the choice of a 3.3kW or 7.2 kW AC fast charger, which can be installed at home or at work. DC Fast Charging allows for quick charging from 10% to 80% in 56 minutes using any 50 kW charger.
The Punch.ev easily integrates elements from the previous 2-3 segments, enhancing the overall digitised interactive experience and providing a high-tech in-cabin feel, according to the business.
The Punch.ev features a 26cm HARMAN high-definition infotainment display, a digital cockpit, an illuminated logo at the centre of the 2-spoke steering wheel, a phygital control panel, wireless Android AutoTM and Apple CarPlay functionalities, and an Arcade.ev app suite with 17 gaming, music, and media apps.
The Punch.ev also supports several voice assistants, including the Native “Hey Tata” assistant, which has over 200 commands in six languages, Alexa, Siri for Apple users, and Google Assistant for Android users. The ZConnect linked Car Technology enhances the linked car experience even further by including wristwatch connection as standard.
Fast charging is supported with the 45W type-C USB connection, offering consistent power for personal electronics. The Punch.ev prioritises comfort and well-being, and has cushioned ventilated leatherette seats, an electric sunroof, mood lighting, and an air purifier with AQI monitor. The Punch.ev has Paddle Shifters, allowing for 4-level Multi-Mode Regeneration and over-the-air software upgrades.
The Punch.ev is Tata Motors’ first product to be built on the all-new made-in-India Pure EV architecture acti.ev, which stands for Advanced Connected Technology-Intelligent Electric Vehicle. The acti.ev architecture is divided into four layers: Powertrain, Chassis, Electrical Architecture, and Cloud Architecture, with a focus on performance, technology, modularity, and space efficiency, according to the company.
